Hi and welcome back.
In this post I will tell you about my first visit to a Ladakhi home!
As soon as we landed in Leh, our taxi driver and Ladakhi best friend Tsewang ji invited us to his home and we thoroughly enjoyed it.
It is also where I met his family including his sister, brother, father, mother, grandmother and grandfather.
Their (generally; not limited to this home) favourite fruit is apricot. When I tried it, it was kind of good. They eat apricots everyday as a snack.
They get all their apricots not from amazon nor local supermarkets or fruits and vegetable shops instead they grow their own food in their farm. In fact the central government of India gives most of the houses a farm with a fixed dimension. The place is surrounded by towering mountains with snow capped peaks (snow only visible from September - June).
The farm is very vast that it covers over 30 - 40% of the entire village! WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮. But the villagers don't have even a single complain about the difficulty of managing personal life and the farm.
They are so compassionate about their work which requires tons of hard work, a lot of care, a little helpfulness and they still go the extra mile of being kind to their guests not just me but everyone who enters their house and wants to explore Ladakhi traditions.
They are so kind that they asked me if I want to play my favourite sport, badminton. They understood that I like badminton from some conversations with Tsewang ji. It was great fun playing badminton in the Himalayas.
His sister has a lot of hobbies including doing craft projects such as a mini model of their home and a doll house. Together we built a mini model of a scenery on a plastic plate.
This was my experience in a Ladakhi home and it brought me a lot of joy to share it with you. Hope you enjoyed it.
Bye Bye see you soon!
